These are small QT movies of activity in Central Iowa and Kansas City in early June 2005 1) Iowa Negative Effusion 214.2K QT Short Clip. Shot just east of Ames, IA on Sat. June 4th, 2005. This system has a large area that assimilated very rapidly and spread out after sundown assimilation into a battery of storm cells which created a blanket charge into the stratsphere during ionospheric inversion which occurs during and after sunset. Complete information on this phenomenon is available in the area where this phenomena is listed disseminated. The energy is released and travels laterally from portions of the system which are saturated with negative charges in excess of 1.4 Billion Volts. Once the sequence is intiated, a chain reaction occurs as all the cells dump into each other in an equilization manner sequentially. About 15 different storm cells equalizze in aproximately three quarters of a second over the entire area of the system, which is spread over the entire central portion of the state and down into Kansas by this time. It's a total of about 400 miles of discharging in a daisy chain fashion. A semi-hysterisis discharge is also evident in the raw footage. That is rare phenomenon, and only seen once or twice per decade by the scientific observer. 2) Kansas City Hotel Shots. 1.9 Meg QT Compiled File. These are short clips taken from hotel windows near the KC airport on the third floor during sundown activity on Wednesday June 8th, 2005 just as the sun is setting. The system is assimilating into the area from the south and west, and is overspreading into the north and east of the viewing area. Major Cloud to Ground Discharges are recorded. Pictures are poor, due to shooting through screens that are not removable, and through windows that are wet, and the bright parking lot lights from the nearby hotels and convention center. |

These are Larger QT movies taken raw and edited sections complete the Forest City Chase has excellent sound, but the lightning is behind the camera 1) Forest City May 29, 2000 - 16.4 Meg QT File. Rapidly assimilating activity moved into the area from a system that extended over into Wisconsin. The footage is not edited. Regular Camcorder quality. Cameras were taken out and started rolling roadside and then in Forest City behind the Winebago plant. This is Pre Rain Severe Assimilation. The sound of the thunder is excellent - and you can hear the highly formed negative channels that the positive returns are running through of the lightning. Most of the lightning cannot be seen, since it's outside the frame of the camera or along the edge, or in between the video frames. 2) Severe Wind - Macon County, TN Nov. 09, 2000 4.3 Meg QT Sequence Clip - We were working on computers in an office and had 5 seconds to go run and get the camera and run out the door. There is almost NO Visiblilty! This is a front that came through at about 1 PM with 130 mile per hour gusts and lasted only about a minute. It blew an old house down 1 mile east of where the footage was taken. Watch the ground Carefully as the waves of wind blow mist over the road from left to right which is west to east. They are moving at over 150 feet per second along the ground, which is well over 100 miles per hour (88 feet per second is 60 Mph). The camera goes out the door DRY and within 10 seconds the wind has the lens completely sprayed with droplets and covered to where you cannot even see what is being videoed. We got real excited with all that high wind and happy !! |
